Pandemic Pay Update

Local 96 has requested a meeting with HR to discuss pandemic time owed to WGL employees and to come to a resolution on this issue. 

We are working diligently to get all members paid that were affected and have not been paid for hours lost.

Drive Cam Update

Attention Teamsters:

As you are aware, the points for electronic devices changed to 6 points in the new contract. As of today August 24th, we have received 13 Drive Cams for electronic device usage since July 1st.

Shenandoah Station: Tomorrow morning at 8:00AM on Tuesday, August 17th, you will receive a ballot to vote on the proposed contract from BallotPoint Election Services.

Shenandoah Bargaining Update- July 13th

Your Union Negotiating Committee met with Management on Tuesday, July 13.

The Union put an additional economic package on the table to supplement the already agreed-upon 14% GWI.
 

Shenandoah Bargaining Update- June 8

Your Union Negotiating Committee met with Management on Tuesday and Thursday.  Serving on the Committee are Head Shop Steward Brian Pingley, Shop Steward Jeremy Ebersole, Local 96 President Wilder Reed, and Local 96 Vice-President J.T. Bowers. 

Discussions focused on contract language changes.  Wages will be on the table next Tuesday. 

Juneteenth: A Holiday and its Lessons

Juneteenth has been signed into law as a federal holiday. Celebrated on June 19, it marks the day that slavery ended in Galveston, Texas in 1865—a full two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation making slavery illegal.

Members Vote to Approve Our Contract

Local 96 members voted YES to ratify our contract by 80% in a vote of 364 to 86, with 82% voter turnout. This victory belongs to the Contract Action Team and the entire Local 96 membership.

Finally, we have posted a copy of the complete proposed contract with additions and deletions. Additiionally, here are calculations on projected raises and health benefits changes here.
